Inventions

1982 - Modification of the Rolling Mill System at Acerías Paz del Río - Colombia

This project proposed an alternative continuous casting system with a variable section cutter, specifically designed to optimize medium-sized steel mills with a broad range of products.

Presented in 1983, the proposal attracted considerable attention at a time when investors expected strong returns from the installation of a new steel-cement production plant and the expansion of production capacity.

However, the expansion did not adequately consider the high energy costs involved, which ultimately contributed to the failure of the investment. As anticipated in the original analysis, the operation continued to generate losses until its liquidation in 1999.
